Sunday Miles - 25k Long Run

  • warralily cockatoo (map)

Join us for a long slow Sunday run - Z2 Heart Rate training.

Meeting at the Warralily Cockatoo Restaurant @ Warralily Village, we plan on keeping the pace sloooow, around the 6 - 7min per km as we aim to keep the heart-rate in a Z2 phase.

What is Z2? - Zone 2 is 65% - 75% of you maximum heart-rate. A relaxed effort that allows you to hold a conversation while training. A quick way to estimate your max heart rate is (220 less your age).

This type of training is a great to log the miles and to increase the baseline of your pace.
For the regular runners its actually quite hard to restrain yourself and hold back on the pace.

The course will see a jog through Mt Duneed towards Waurn Ponds station, then down towards Princes Hwy, to turn off along the creek that snakes towards Grovedale. We then jog the back streets towards the long dirt roads of Barwarre as the morning rises. We then finish along Armstrong Creek back at the Warralily Village for a coffee or snack at Cockatoo.

Other info: As its a long run, its recommended to bring no less than 500ml water, or a hydration pack etc. You are also welcome to bring snacks for along the way - Energy gels will be provided thanks to Endura.
